"who could've predicted that america's voice of reason would have turned out to be jerry springer?" so says the advertisement.

jerry springer, yeah. london born, b.a. tulane (particularly effected by this crisis), law degree from northwestern, mayor of cincinatti. (cf. richard bey, who was jerry springer before there was a jerry springer--and a yalie too--but who's never had the success on tv or on radio.) the tv show makes more sense when one considers springer's own encounters w/ prostitutes and porn stars over the years.

he got out of london early enough to cultivate a strong heartland accent, the kind of average joe accent that both randi rhodes and michael savage utilize, for very different causes, natch. the radio show, though, isn't like an extended "jerry's final thought." it's more about channeled outrage, howard beale-style.
